Photographing Hawaii weddings includes many aspects of your day, especially when you hire a wedding photographer to for all day coverage. Asking a group of people to pose in front of the camera and act happy on demand isn’t always as easy as it looks.
Her vision, she told me, was in a park with lots of greenery and in downtown Honolulu to have the contrast of nature and urban living. My suggestion was to head over to Chinatown where on a Saturday, is pretty quiet since it’s mostly a Monday – Friday hub. So with my trusty assistant Kelli to watch over traffic, we head to the middle of the road for this image.
When I first met Amber, I just knew I had to photograph her one day. We quickly became friends through a photographer’s group here on Oahu and I think it’s because we not only have a passion for photography but, also the gift of gab!

I love photographing this portion of the wedding. It’s the first true intimate moment between husband and wife. I loved the setting of the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s ballroom with this dramatic chandelier. This was captured by my assistant Will while I was focusing on more close up images.
