I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Four years of composition, color theory, and editorial layout before I ever photographed a wedding.

Couples tell me, usually within the first ten minutes, that they do not photograph well. Nearly all of them are wrong. What they mean is that nobody has ever given them anything to do with their hands.
I direct gently and specifically, and I keep it short. Most couples forget to be self-conscious somewhere around the fifth frame.

What if we're camera shy?
Most of the couples I photograph tell me this before we ever meet. I give you something to do rather than somewhere to stand: a walk, a whisper, a hand to hold. My direction is specific and quiet, and portraits take minutes, not an hour. By the time you would start to feel awkward, we are usually finished.
Three hundred, in North Carolina, Charleston, Connecticut, Hawaii, Italy, and France. The number matters less as a credential than as a reason not to worry: there is very little that can happen at a wedding that I have not already photographed my way through. Rain an hour before an outdoor ceremony. A ceremony that starts forty minutes late. A reception room darker than anyone expected. None of it is new.
What is your background?
I earned a BFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and I had a long creative career in the fashion industry. Design taught me composition and color. Fashion taught me how an editorial image is built, and how to stay calm when a day runs on a tight clock. Both show up in every gallery I deliver.
