Destination wedding photographer, world traveler, chocolate and wine lover. I’m the girl behind the lens that will capture and narrate the story of you and your wedding day so you may have your treasured memories for generations to come.
Readers of my blog know I LOVE photographing weddings in Hawaii. I love capturing the intimate moments and the little details that can be overlooked in the overall flurry of activity of the big day.
While you’re taking care of all the little details for your day, like worrying if the flowers will come out the way you envision them or picking out your favors, make sure that you don’t run out of time to take care of yourself. As busy as you might be as a bride-to-be, it’s really important to take some down time and focus on YOU!
Your wedding photos will last a lifetime and you want to make sure you look polished from head to toe. A couple of weeks before your big day make sure you schedule an appointment for a manicure, pedicure, waxing, and facial.
Even if you don’t normally get your nails or toes done, this is one time when you’re going to be happy that you spent the time to get a mani-pedi. If getting your nails done is not part of your usual routine and going to a salon makes you nervous, make a party of it and invite your bridesmaids to enjoy an afternoon of pampering.
Better yet, check with the salon owner ahead of time and you may be able to bring champagne and glasses to the salon, turning the girls spa day into a celebration! (Be sure to arrange a designated driver.)
Many nail salons also offer waxing, so go ahead and clean up the shape your brows, get the legs waxed, or even get a bikini wax. If you’ve never had your brows done before, I recommend going to an expert shaper like Lena’s Fab Brows three months out to be sure you like them. I had my eyebrows done by a new shaper right before my best friend’s wedding. She took off way too much of my brow and I felt naked!
Since everyone’s skin reacts differently, it’s important to schedule any final waxing about a week before your wedding. Red, blotchy skin is a big bummer and if you choose to have your legs and bikini waxed, you don’t want a bumpy bikini line for your honeymoon.
Getting a facial is another fabulous way to pamper yourself and have your skin in top-notch shape for your big day. Again, don’t get one right before your wedding just in case you have a reaction to it. If anything, have your day of pampering a week before your wedding day…even try to get your groom to have one too!
