Suvi + Nilesh decided to have their Hawaii destination wedding on Kauai not only because it was a great in-between place for families to travel to but, for Kauai’s amazing backdrop. You can totally tell the love between them Nelish’s face lights up every time he’d look into his brides’ eyes. I asked how they met (I’m always curious how my couples meet), Nilesh is a Doctor and a new crop of residents came in and there was our beautiful Suvi. They rest is history and here we are photographing their fabulous nuptials on the edge of the water at the Courtyard by Marriott on Coconut Beach. Mira Savara Events coordinated and IMF Visions created the video.
To ensure we got all the family images taken care of, we scheduled our first look in the lobby area of the hotel. We just love how excited Nilesh was to see his girl all ready to go!
As with our Indian weddings we’ve become accustomed to the bright colors and details of the ceremony.
Reds, Yellow and oranges were abound. It made for a beautiful contrast to the Kauai skies and lawn area. Many traditions took place during the ceremony such as throwing rice, grabbing the ring from a bowl of milk. The seven walks of life, the tying the bride and groom together symbolizing the union.
Games are played to see who will be the head of the house. One is having a bowl of milk. The priest puts one real ring and one fake one. Who ever grabs the real ring wins!
The throwing of the rice is another. It starts off gentle but, Suvi + Nilesh are super competitive and it turned who could get more on the other real fast.
They styled it out with a Bollywood style first dance.
