Self-Care shouldn’t take the back seat when you’re wedding planning. Even with all the joy and events that lead up to it, the planning can be overwhelming and stressful, leaving you a tad frazzled. It’s so important to remember your mental and physical well being during this time. Below are some helpful hints (that I find help me in everyday life too) to help you enjoy the process of wedding planning while still remembering to take care of you.
Daily Practice of Mind and Body for a full spectrum of self-care
Personally, I love meditation and this is from someone that always thought it was for other people. I had tried many different ones and finally settled on TM a 20 minute 2x a day practice. Try a few different ones and see what suits you best. Even a 10 minute guided practice can melt away stress, anxiety and, worry away.
Gratitude Practice: Every morning, write down 5 things to be grateful for keep it simple as journaling 5 things to be grateful for. I personally do this and I find it sets my mood for the day and I handle everything with a different perspective.
Physical Movement
Whether or not you exercise regularly, getting outside for some fresh air even for a 10 minute walk daily can clear your mind and place a new perspective in your day.
Try a Yoga class, it comes in all forms these days, if you’re totally stressed, look to a restorative class to melt away the stress from mind and body. Being that I live near the beach, I love taking a dip in the ocean and watch the waves crash along the seashore.
Relaxation
Whether your idea of relaxing is binge watching the latest true crime docu-series, a long bath with some lavender essential oils, a cup of tea and, a book, a spa day with a facial and massage or, even as simple (one of my favorites,) take a nap, remember to carve out some time for yourself and embrace it. Your to-do wedding planning list can wait a little while.
Have “Dates” With Your Partner
With all the wedding planning there’s requests coming in at all angles, one can become laser focused on the goal… the WEDDING! It’s also the time to create some new memories too! It’s a great time to spend some down time with your partner and make some room for some romance and connection. Take a in a movie, go for a hike or even a long weekend away to recharge and connect.
Family and Friends Time
Sure you’ll be spending time dress shopping and bridal showers and even your bachelorette party. Take the time to spend time that is not wedding related to keep those relationships strong.
Wedding planning is fun as it is stressful and overwhelming, remembering to take some time out for self-care to relax, reconnect and, recharge it will help keep you balanced and looking forward to your wedding day with joy and romance that it too deserves.
