For over a decade, I've had the honor of photographing weddings across three of Hawaii's most beautiful islands, Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. What began as a deep love for these islands has grown into an expertise I treasure: understanding the unique light of each island, the perfect timing for golden hour on different coastlines, and the intimate knowledge of venues that makes your wedding day seamless.
I chose to focus my work on Oahu, Maui, and Kauai because these are the islands I know intimately, where I've built strong relationships with the best vendors, where I understand the nuances of each location, and where I can offer you the deepest local expertise and most thoughtful service.
Hawaii holds a special place in my heart. The natural luminosity here, the way light dances off the ocean, filters through palm fronds, and paints the sky in those breathtaking sunset hues, creates the romantic, glowing images my work is known for. I've photographed countless weddings from the North Shore of Oahu to the cliffs of Kauai, from Maui's golden beaches to hidden garden estates.
When you work with me, you're not hiring a photographer who occasionally travels to Hawaii. You're working with someone who knows these three islands inside and out, where to find the most stunning light, how to navigate permits and logistics, and which moments are worth pausing for. I bring both artistry and genuine local expertise to ensure your Hawaiian wedding is captured beautifully and unfolds effortlessly.

Where Romance Meets the Islands

CAPTURED

Your Island, Beautifully

Whether you've chosen the dramatic cliffs of Kauai, the golden beaches of Maui, or the diverse beauty of Oahu, each of these three islands offers its own magic. I've chosen to focus my work here because I know them intimately and love helping couples discover the perfect setting for their celebration.

Home to both vibrant Waikiki and the peaceful North Shore, Oahu offers incredible variety. I've photographed dozens of weddings here—from elegant resort celebrations to intimate beach ceremonies. The island's diverse landscapes mean we can capture sweeping ocean views, lush tropical gardens, and even urban elegance all in one day.

Hawaii destination weddings offer something truly special, the opportunity to slow down, be present, and celebrate surrounded by natural beauty. But they also come with unique considerations, and that's where my local expertise becomes invaluable.

The Magic of an Island Celebration

Hawaii's light is extraordinary, but it works differently than mainland "golden hour." The most beautiful, flattering light for portraits typically occurs in the 1.5 hours leading up to sunset and extends for about 10-20 minutes after the sun sets. I know exactly when to schedule your ceremony and portraits for the most luminous results on each island, whether that's late afternoon at a Maui beach or timing your first look to capture that perfect pre-sunset glow at an Oahu resort.

Hawaii's weather is wonderfully complex. While we have a rainy season (December-April), most weddings take place on the leeward (west) sides of the islands where conditions tend to be drier and sunnier. I understand seasonal patterns, microclimates, and always have backup plans that ensure beautiful photos regardless of conditions. Those dramatic skies and passing rainbows? They often create some of the most stunning imagery.

From beach permits to venue access, resort coordination to timeline planning, I navigate the practical details so you can focus on celebrating. I've worked with virtually every major venue across the islands and have strong relationships with Hawaii's best wedding professionals.

As someone who has photographed over 400 destination weddings in Hawaii, I can help you think through timing, guest coordination, and those special touches that make a destination celebration seamless for everyone.

When you choose me for your Hawaiian wedding, you receive far more than beautiful photographs. You receive a luxury, end-to-end experience designed to make your destination celebration effortless.

Practical Wisdom for your Hawaii Celebration

Best Times to Get Married in Hawaii

Hawaii offers beautiful weather year-round, but each season has its own character:

December - April

May - September

Peak wedding season with the most bookings. While this is technically Hawaii's rainy season (especially on windward/east sides of the islands), most ceremonies are held on the leeward/west sides where weather tends to be drier and more predictable. December and early January can actually be quieter due to holiday travel, offering a bit more flexibility. Book well in advance, venues fill quickly, especially for February through April dates.

Warmer temperatures, longer days, and generally drier conditions. Summer offers extended daylight, which means more flexibility with timeline planning. This season often has better availability and can be ideal for couples seeking warmth and sunshine.

October - November

Shoulder season with fewer crowds and often stunning weather as we head into rainy season, there is still gorgeous weather to be had. Some of my favorite weddings have been in the fall when the islands feel a bit more intimate and relaxed.

Lighting Considerations by Island

Hawaii's light is extraordinary, but it differs from mainland "golden hour." The best light for portraits typically occurs in the 1.5 hours before sunset and continues for about 10-20 minutes after the sun dips below the horizon. Understanding this timing, and how it varies by location and season, is crucial for creating those luminous, romantic images.

Oahu's West Side (Ko Olina): Spectacular sunsets directly over the ocean—perfect for ceremony timing and that extended soft light after sunset.

Oahu's North Shore: Morning light is particularly beautiful, with afternoon trade winds adding movement to portraits. The lush, green backdrop creates beautiful natural fill light.

Maui's West Coast: Gorgeous afternoon and pre-sunset light, with Lanai visible on the horizon creating depth and atmosphere.

Kauai's North Shore: Dramatic, ever-changing light with lush green backdrops that create stunning depth and that signature Hawaiian glow.

Each island's geography also affects light differently:

Hawaii Beach Photography Permits

Many of Hawaii's most beautiful beaches require permits for professional photography. I can handle all permit applications and fees. I know which locations offer scenic views to take full advantage of the landscape.

Some of my favorite permitted locations include:
Papiloa Beach, Oahu
Secret Beach, Oahu
Ironwoods Beach, Maui
Tunnels Beach, Kauai

I also work extensively at top venues and resorts where permits aren't required, giving you flexibility and peace of mind.
