Charleston engagement photos in historic downtown
I had the pleasure of meeting up with W+T for their engagement session in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. As a romantic destination wedding and portrait photographer, I don’t often get to work with my couples before the big day, so this was an especially exciting chance to meet them in person. We explored the stunning Historical Charleston area as we captured some gorgeous photos!
Usually we meet over a Zoom call and it is a great way to get to know you but nothing beats in person! So with this said, I love doing engagement sessions. We can spend a little time to create some romance and laughter and it’s a great way to get to know each other.
I met up with Taylor and Wyatt in the Historic Charleston, and immediately after greeting one another, and with bad weather looming, we headed out and about in the Historic area in downtown. I absolutely love this area for its rich history and architecture. From Rainbow Row to the Four Corners, there’s so many beautiful areas to capture romantic images.
Know that I’m happy to help with styling your outfits for your engagement session and most couples will go and get a new outfit for their session. It’s also a great time to have that hair and makeup trial with your artist to ensure that you’re comfortable with the way they work.
Most of my couples will also take advantage of getting all dresed up to grab a cocktail and dinner afterwards to keep the romance going.
Historic Charleston has many choices for architecture so we started off at the “Four Corners of the Law”. It was an easy place to meet and start photographing. I love it here and the staircase is a great place to warm up. These can be, as we call it “long shots” as your nerves will not show as much an we can keep moving om. Know that I give a ton of direction to me clients along with positive affirmations because let’s face it, I know that you’re nervous! Know that you’re doing a great job and will look fabulous!
One of my top objectives when working with a couple is to ensure they have a great time laughing, creating romance and, enjoying themselves during our photo session. My other main objective is also to get to know you better and have you more comfortable in front of the camera for your big day.
Jeanne was so easy to work with and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, creating romance between us! We can’t wait to have her photograph our wedding day!

Moving along Meeting Street, the wisteria was actually blooming and well, I had to take advantage of the of this gorgeous area.
How can you not end up on one of the most iconic areas in historic Charleston? Rainbow Row is where we ended our session and I did purposely save it for last as now you’re more relaxed and a bit more vulnerable in front of the camera.
I so loved spending the afternoon with T+W, we managed to miss the looming weather! Watch out for their sprint affair coming up at Boone Hall.
