Turtle Bay Resort | North Shore Wedding | Hawaii
After two and half years of being a couple, Jessica + Jesse decided to make their commitment to marry on a Hawaii Destination wedding at the beautiful Turtle Bay Resort on the fames North Shore of Oahu. I always ask how my couples meet and theirs was special. See Jessica’s father is a flight instructor in the Coast Guard and had a new school of students coming through. One of those students was Jesse. Ken took a liking to Jesse and gave him Jessica’s phone number and told him that he thought they had a lot in common and a few days later, they had their first blind date. Ken during his toast even said that Jesse was hand picked. Dad was so sure that they’d get on he invited Jesse to Jessica’s graduation!
About Their Proposal:
After plans were cancelled they decided on an evening in painting pictures of their first date. Only Jesse decided to add something a little extra, An orange helicopter with a banner that said “MARRY ME JESS!” She screamed YES!!! Before he could even finish!
About the Wedding:
Not worrying about a thing, their wedding coordinator and floral designer, Jill Easley from Easley Designs was brought on board and she created a romantic day filled with beauty and a touch of the tropics and not to mention stress free. She was able to incorporate the pink and blue color of their wedding into everything Jessica + Jesse. And the day ran without a hitch.
Jessica’s parents presented her with her fabulous necklace!
Jill of Easley Designs does phenomenal work and didn’t disappoint incorporating the colors and a tropical theme that Jessica envisioned for her wedding .
Jesse and his gang all wore their Coast Guard Whites!
Jessica wore her mother’s veil and had shown me a similar image of Merri’s mother right before the ceremony. I asked Merri to go back to when her mother was adjusting her veil and share that with Jessica. I wanted to be sure I wan’t just duplicating what was a moment but creating one all its own.
The view from the pavilion is amazing you can see Kewelo bay off to your left. It’s a great little hidden beach to Turtle Bay Hosts horse back rides through there.
The pavilion was decorated with Jess’s color scheme we just loved the invitations and programs using the orchid!
Jess’s father walked her down the aisle of the water front pavilion at Turtle Bay Resort. They exchanged vows they wrote themselves making their ceremony more romantic and special for them to remember for years. With traditional (for Hawaii) lei exchange with their parents, they kissed and became man and wife!
They received the Coast Guard tradition where each pair blocks the couple until they kiss and then pass through to the next pair.
The Reception:
After cocktail hour and sunset portrait session on the point, Jessica + Jess danced to “That’s All”- by Michael Buble in the Kuilima ballroom inside Turtle Bay Resort with a beautiful view of the ocean. The evening rounded out with a hula by a friends daughter, toasts and the story of how Jessica and Jess got together from Jessica’s Father Ken’s view and a surprise video message from Jessica’s brother who was deployed and couldn’t make the wedding.
Advice
Jessica recommends to be sure to do your research when planning your Hawaii wedding. When we’re hosting a destination wedding we always make a point to meet our couples prior to the wedding day even though we may have skyped and emails back and forth many times. I believe a face-to-face meeting is so important and takes only about an hour. We discuss final details of your timeline, confirm our arrival and be sure we have your family formal list.
We also liked Jess’ suggestion about bringing a list of what you need to bring. Hawaii is far away and although we are able to bring items in, it sometimes can take a while to do so. Pinterest was super helpful to her as it helped her organize her ideas for her wedding day.
Heather Heen of Delish Hair and Make-up did a smashing job on Jessica, her mother and all her bridesmaids. Jess’ own words “She made me feel like a princess and Heather made her up exactly how she envisioned she would for my wedding day!”
IMF Visions filmed their day doing an amazing job capturing their fairytale Hawaii Wedding. See the same day edit here.

We’re so ecstatic for Jess + Jesse and we are so elated that they LOVED their tropical, romantic Hawaii Wedding and we wish them many years of happiness together!
